Should the trap be operated 24/7 for it to be effective?

The Ambush works best when left on 24/7 as it is designed to break the breeding cycle. Also it takes a few hours after the sun has risen to dry the mosquitoes out and kill them as there is still moisture in the air at night. However you can spray a little bug spray near the vents in the morning. This will kill the trapped mosquitoes and then the trap can be turned off.

Will it be effective anywhere in Australia?

There are more than 100 species of mosquitoes in Australia, and different mosquitoes are attracted to different things. That's why the Ambush has 5 different attractants, so wherever you go and whatever species of mosquito is harassing you, the Ambush has something to help.

In fact, the Ambush Mosquito Trap has been found to be effective in other countroes across the world.

Is the Ambush effective against sandflies and midges?

The Ambush Mosquito Trap is primarily designed to break the breeding cycle of mosquitoes. Midges and sandflies are attracted by some of the same features as mosquitoes (especially UV light and octenol), so it is equally effective against midges and sandlies. We've received plenty of customer feedback that the Trap is very effective against midges.

Can the trap be used indoors?

Sort of. The Ambush Mosquito Trap is designed to be an outdoor trap. If used indoors, both the UV light and the fan are very effective and more powerful than most indoor traps on the market. However, don't use the mosquito lure when operatig it indoors, and it will not break the breeding cycle of localised mosquito populations.

Is the Trap noisy?

The Ambush Mosquito Trap is very quiet. The only hum comes from the fan. Unless you are sitting hard very close, you will not hear it.

The trap is not really effective in dealing with the many mosquitoes coming from their bush hides in our back yard. Indeed many other insects caught but not much in the way of mosquitoes

Disappointing experience

My mosquito trap worked great for 6 months and then something in it must have shorted. A lot of small moths were regularly being trapped. For the money, I expected it to work for longer. It was placed outdoors under shelter.

Caught Everything not just Mozzies

Unfortunately it caught way more beneficial insects than mozzies so it’s a no from me. Service was fine.

Well worth the money

Quality product that’s working well so far

Fast delivery from order ( 3 days) . I was Very impressed with quality of construction and components out of the box. Instructions were easy to follow and additional info provided on pest species was helpful. I have been using for 6 weeks ( Jan/Feb) when we have high mosquito and midge activity from nearby bush land. We generally don’t go down the garden without protective sprays. Emptying the sieve shows high kill numbers for pests, but quite a lot of collateral impact on moths - not all of which are problem species. Mosquito numbers have dropped, but still enough to cause problems so far ( we’ve had plenty of rain over last 6 weeks too). Due to size of garden area and mutiple potential sources of pests, I will need to relocate the unit a couple of times to see if we get more impact. 4* so far due to this aspect, but I’ve no doubt it is effective at killing mosquitos.

Order delivered in 3 days to country NSW. Beautifully packaged. first night i estimate we collected around 2000 mosquitos...yes its a plague after the floods. 2nd night about 1500..and the whole area already feels much reduced in mozzie menace after just 2 days!. 8 of us working outdoors alongside a pond...it is a blessed relief. Great product comparable to a much bigger more expensive US version i used 15 years ago. This is much neater all round.

Sceptical Until Now

I purchased this product in Feb 2019. I like many others, have looked and tried absolutely everything available to stop or at least control the mosquitoes with no luck until now. we have had a really bad influx of mosquitoes recently on the Island and when i opened my front door they just swarmed inside.
